About the Original Artwork
The Owl is the symbol of guidance; here we are led through the time between the night and the day as the season turns into Autumn. This piece was created using natural dyes derived from rust, alder, oak, tea and onion skins. Felting and embroidery adds textural depth to the work. The owl and trees were hand-carved from a lino block and printed onto silk. The shimmering moon is 23 carat gold leaf.
